NEW ORLEANS — A walkie-talkie was rushed to the hospital Monday after a production assistant fell down a three-story stairwell on set, resulting in "possible antenna damage."

"We heard this crunch of plastic on concrete, and my heart just stopped," said key set PA Omar Kowalczyk, stepping over his coworker's visibly shattered leg to inspect the radio. "If that casing is cracked, the rental house is going to kill us."

"The channel knob's bent," Kowalczyk added. "It's stuck on 3. We really need 1."

Paramedics reportedly instructed the PA responsible for the fall to stop writhing so they could remove his surveillance earpiece without fraying the wires, although witnesses admitted the cable "didn't look good."

At press time, the walkie was resting comfortably on a charger in a local hospital, and reports "good spirits, all things considered."
