SUN VALLEY, CA — Following a thorough evaluation of the film’s overall visual presentation, local post-production colorist Doug Petrakis officially graded an upcoming sci-fi thriller on Monday, ultimately giving the project a C+.
“While the shadows were nice in the third act, the midtones were muddy throughout, and frankly, the director failed to demonstrate a basic understanding of color theory,” said Petrakis, 34.
The colorist noted that he had to deduct several points for a blown-out window in the opening scene that showed a complete lack of effort.
“I left some notes in the margins of the timeline so they know what to study for next time,” Petrakis added. “But honestly, if they don’t apply themselves to fixing these issues, I’m going to have to hold the entire production back a year.”
At press time, Petrakis was reportedly calling the cinematographer’s parents into the coloring bay for a parent-teacher conference to discuss their son’s disappointing contrast.
